Peregrine Master Hub Questions
I forgot to check the locknut/washer sequence before I pulled the wheels off my Haro. My first question is with the front, starting with the inside/innermost part first. This part with the divot for a spanner wrench meets the ball bearings inside is fine. Does a washer go between the locknut on top of the specialized nut that touches the bearings, or do those two nuts meet and tighten against each other alone? I seem to be missing some washers, and I noticed I may have stuck them between the nuts in my haste to put this together today. If those two nuts meet without a washer between, a washer would go on top of them, and behind the fork dropouts, correct? Then, the nut on the outside that holds the wheel on has a knurled flange on it. Does that clamp the fork on the outside with the knurls meeting the fork, or is there a washer under the nut too?
Cliff notes, I guess:
1. Do the two nuts tighten together without the washer between?
2. How many sets of washers are used? One behind inside the fork leg and one outside?
I just want to get this together with the wheels correctly and not marring the dropouts. Thanks.

Re: Peregrine Master Hub Questions
my rear master has the thin washers between the nuts and my front mag does'nt, also they didn't have any washers between the forks and the nuts, but if there is too much gap between there you could always add one, and then washers go on the outside of the forks before the nut to tighten them, if that makes sense ![]()

Re: Peregrine Master Hub Questions
Thanks for the reply. My rear does not/did not have any washers between nuts, but the side with the coaster arm has an extra, large washer to go with the smaller one. There is a chance the original owner got the sequence wrong, but I doubt it.
On the front, perhaps I stuffed the washers that came with it between the lock nuts when I quickly put it back together. I'll see if any pictures I have left around reveal anything. I agree that the washer should go under the nut on the outside of the fork. I just didn't remember or think the top locknut that goes between the fork blades directly touched the fork dropout. At least, there is no blemish that looks like that part was directly snugged up to the dropout when the wheel was tightened on. BTW, the fork didn't seem pinched together too much so that an extra washer or so was needed to fill the gap. I would only consider it if it protects the dropout.
I appreciate the feedback. If anyone else has something to say, I'll go with what ends up being the consensus.

Re: Peregrine Master Hub Questions
Mine have the metal washer in between the locknut on top of the specialized nut that touches the bearings.
I use One behind inside the fork leg and one outside for forks and rear dropouts. Ive used nylon washers for the dropouts and havent had any problems yet. not sure if they have to be metal or not, i know the ones between the locknuts for the bearings have to be. ![]()

Re: Peregrine Master Hub Questions
I found a digital picture of my front wheel prior to taking the bike apart. It shows there was a washer between the locknuts, just like on Speedwheel's bike. It looks like there was no washer touching the inside of the fork or underneath the axle nut on the outside. Maybe it would be a good idea to put some there?
