Shipping charges...hilarious.
Good for a laugh...total flim flam. All charges for shipping obscured until after purchase, so lo-and-behold, when you buy your $8.00 item? It becomes a $25 item.

That's complete b/s, but it's typical of ebay sellers.

Sorry cap, but the shipping price was clearly listed before you bought !!
That's not a "ebay scam" in my book.
I side with you on most, but can't with this one ... ![]()

Yeah I'm not a fan of the way they are doing that these days. I wonder if there is a setting I need to check to get it to display on the main page?
Almost $17 to ship that? Hardly. I don't see why it would cost any more than $10 to ship cross country USPS Priority.

Shipping on a card may be $1.67, but the bubble mailer (what I ship in) is not free, nor is the top loader, nor is insurance.
I charged $3.50 to ship in the states, and $3.00 to ship to Canada for a card under $50 (no insurance unless over $20).
But some guys will charge ya $5.00 for a plain white envelope.

Re: Shipping charges...hilarious.
Those USPS Flat Rate Shipping boxes are the way to go. ~$5 or ~$10 for whatever you can fit inside. And they're free! I don't know why anyone would use anything else for the smaller stuff.
Small:
The Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box is about the same size and shape as three stacked DVD cases, perfect for jewelry, electronics, event tickets, or other small items that need expedited shipping. And like all USPS flat rate boxes and envelopes, the new box is available free of charge and also can be used for international shipping.
The Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box has a retail shipping price of $4.95 — one price, regardless of weight, up to 70 lbs. for U.S. addresses. The international price, for up to 4 lbs., is just $10.95 to Canada or Mexico and $12.95 to all other countries, with savings of 5 percent for customers who ship online. Online prices also are lower for shipping to U.S. addresses. The online price is $4.80, and for large volume mailers who qualify for USPS Commercial Plus pricing, the price is $4.75.
Medium (there are 2 different sized boxes, but, nice sized).
-Can be used for Domestic Priority Mail ($10.35) and International Priority Mail ($25.95 to Canada and Mexico- $41.95 to all other countries, 20 lb weight limit applies)

Re: Shipping charges...hilarious.
LOL @ you US guys.
try the shipping costs when you live over seas THEN you'll see massive rip offs.
here's an example:
a year or so ago the missing component for my sting was the frame tube stickers. an original pair popped up for $100us, fair enough they are extremely rare, so i bashed the BIN. lo and behold shipping from the US was charged to me @$25us. i really, really needed them so i bit the bullet and paid for them. about 2 weeks later the stickers turn up in a box with about $13us on the shipping sticker. i wrote to the seller informing them of the massive difference and i was refunded about 5 bucks. apparently the cost of going to the post office is pretty expensive over there.
now here's a story from my side of the pond:
a fella here recently asked me for some PL-20 stickers for his '82 carrera. not a problem, the guy was genuine so i GAVE him a complete set of the repo's i had done. i took them down to the local post office, put them in a padded bag and sent them to him. all up cost was $4aus. my time, price of fuel and wear tear on my car was obsorbed by me cause i'm here as a hobby to help others if i can.
cool story huh?
moral of the story here is, i buy locally now to avoid the US seller ripoff.

I also buy locally to avoid the australia seller ripoff. moral of the story is no matter where you live it is possible to pay a lot for shipping when buying from overseas

a guy in AUS bought a race helmet from me and I told him it was going to be about $70 for shipping, which was what the price of the helmet was. I told him I had a second one and shipping for the box of 2 was only $30 more and I'd be happy to send him both helmets for the price of $100 shipped plus $70 x 2. He bit knowing that he could recoup all of his shipping charges by selling the 2nd helmet.
The majority of us are very reasonable when it comes to shipping over seas.

i'm not saying all of you guys are ripoffs, but i will say it's the minority who are reasonable with shipping costs.
i had a premier super bmx helmet shipped to me about a year ago for $35us.
times have changed obviously, cause i used to be able to get a frame and fork shipped to me here in Australia for around $50us.

Yup, if you click through to the details, I should have seen it. But still shady - no matter how you slice it. And in the end it's not that the price is all that off from any other retailer online or on the Bay, but it's a hell of a shady way to get you to buy from him. 11 pages into feedback no negs, I should have kept reading..but again, not obvious. Sigh.
I emailed asking WTF on the shipping...

A blanket statement most of us are unreasonable is a little unfair. Sit around long enough, this thread will fill with comments of it going both ways I bet. Continental US, Australia, or between the two, it's not an exclusive club on one side of the ocean or the other. The moral of the story is something I've heard once or twice, "Buyer Beware". We're all in the habit of trusting folks to be fair, but, unfortunately, that's not the case.
A lot of US folks use the UPS type stores. Those guys charge a MINT for boxes and packing. The guys here on the site, not so much. I bet your experience with eBay is worse than directly with the BMX site guys. And that makes sense. Some folks drop a pile of crap off at UPS store, and UPS packs and ships (and charges). Most the guys here support the hobby, and keeping it real.

Re: Shipping charges...hilarious.
why do US sellers ship within the Us without tracking using the cheapest avail service (first class) and when it comes to shipping here in canada they tell me "oh, I don't ship international without tracking cause I've been burned before"
wtf!? as if you can only get stiffed by buyers outside the US!?
lately, I've been asked to pay 10-12 dollars to ship stuff that could be shipped for less than $2. Cause I'm in Canada therefore I'm a higher risk customer
well that's F'n BS!
