Root beer brown motomags? Post a pic if you got em
I'm interested in seeing what these looked like. It was a color for the Jag motomags from what I read on vintagemongoose.com.
Anyone have a set or decent pics of them?
Thanks!

Not sure, but I think the Root Beer color was the frame not the actual Motomags?
Anyhow, I recently had these Motomags copper plated and they probably look pretty close to Root Beer! Ha!

Those are sick man! Are those going on your copper goose?
See this page

States they actually came in root beer brown but for the life of me I do not recall seeing any that color. I have a set of motomags dying for some restoration and this color sparked an interest to build a bike with.
I think the Standard Jag also came in this color. But there are very few jags listed on this site and I did not see any in Brown.
Ooh good stuff here too
http://www.vintagemongoose.com/pdfs/jag-cat.pdf Not sure if that last pic is root beer brown or the pineapple gold.
EDIT: The top left Jag on the Jag Cat looks to have the root beer brown. Too bad the pic is not more clear.

The vintage Mongoose website has a brochure you can download. It has a pic of Root Beer moto-mags or Pineapple gold moto-mags.

I'll weigh my front and rear motomags separately to get the weight. Yeah they are not light.

Oddly, the copper plating adds almost no extra weight to the Motomags at all.
I thought it might as well, but the overall weight barley changed. As a matter of fact it is less than my scale can calculate.
Because they plate so well, I'm thinking about doing a pair in Nickel too.
I wish I knew the paint code for "Root Beer" that BMX Products used BITD. I'm sure it would look sweet on any build.
Funny, the Pearl drum company makes a finish called "Root Beer Fade" on the new Reference series kits...
Because I endorse them, I've now got one of the new kits in this exact finish that they just sent me.
It looks pretty awesome. Here it is:

here is an advert from BMXA 1979 - I think the root beer brown mags are the ones on the Jag in the thumbnail
"Available in golden licorice black, banana yellow, apple stick green, and root beer brown."

Nice post Unlucky... Very rare pictures there.
Now that I see those mags in the inset pic, they do look pretty close to Copper although I'm sure it was an epoxy of some kind. I never knew about these before.
I got lucky having a pair of "Root Beer Copper" Motomags made I guess! Ha!
Man, I wish I could go back in time and buy a ton of that stuff brand new and just keep it all in the original boxes... I miss the 70's. ![]()
