1990 Mongoose Expert Comp

12/89 build 1990 model.

This is one of my yard sale finds, like it?
I sure do.

Here we have one of my favorite newer gooses compared to my vintage gooses.
It was in poor shape when I first found it at a yard sale. It was all dirty, rust in a few spots, dried up tires and bent up rims. But a decent survivor, non the less.
Here is a run down of the parts/components:
Frame: Mongoose, Taiwan made
Forks: Mongoose
Handlebars: Mongoose
Gooseneck: Mongoose
Headset: Mongoose
Grips: Oakley style
Seat: Mongoose
Seat post: Mongoose
Seat clamp: Mongoose
Cranks: Mongoose
Sprocket adapter: Mongoose
Sprocket ring: Mongoose
Pedals: Mongoose, Vp
BB hardware: Mongoose
Brake caliper: Mongoose
Brake lever: Mongoose
Brake Cable: New, Unknown
Wheels: Proclass stlye, Kin Lin(not pictured)
Tires: Duro, gumwalls, 20x1.75(not pictured)
Padset: Mongoose

Stay cool my friends!
JG

Okay  what is your serial number?

Mine is LY89 and I was told, like posted that the L=month(mine is L=DEC).

Not sure about the "Y" in mine is?
Neither did the MODS know.

But the 2 numbers after that is supposed to be the year, but because of the month code on mine.
Is was dated as a DEC '89 mongoose, but sold as a '90.
Hope this helps.

PM sent.

Re: 1990 Mongoose Expert Comp

I have so many memories of my Expert, however left town 7 years ago only to return 2 years later and find that my bother donated it to the Boys and Girls club. But hey...I hope some kid loves it like I did. Would you consider saling your '90 Expert Comp? they are hard to find and this set up is like my blanket in a bike form.
