1999 Mongoose Hoop-D

Serial - 8J = 10/98 build, 1999 model.

A cleaned up & refurbished Throwaway

Here we have a Mongoose that was discarded in the trash with bent wheels and coated with rust(from love of course).
I only was looking at it in the sense of using it for parts till one of the Grandkids seen it and thought the frame style was cool. He asked if he could keep it and offered to help clean it up.
So with a combined effort from the grandkid and some other parts, we got this goose back on the road & dirt.
The bike consists of the following parts and his happy smiling face in the last picture.

Forks: Mongoose, OG
Headset hardware: Mongoose, OG
Handlebars: Mongoose, OG
Gooseneck: Mongoose, OG

Bottom Bracket hardware: Mongoose, new
Seat: Mongoose, new

Brake calipers: Mongoose, OG
Brake levers: Mongoose, OG
Brake cables, new orgy
Wheels: Mongoose, new "rebel goose mags"
Tires: Deli tire, 20x1.75 gumwalls
Pegs: G-normous!

I could be wrong but, it looks like the forks are "raked" backwards. Is the steerer tube bent?

Yes your right, you have a good eye.
The forks are bent slightly.
The family down the street who used to own this before it was thrown away had a son that would ghost ride it into things.

Hey "xlr81999" I noticed your favorites included abunch of skyways, Gt's, Haros and such.
Thanks for saving the above goose as one of your favorites.
