Re: {{Removing Rust}}
distilled white vinager will remove rust..
just dont leave it too long, or it will strip the chrome off the metal...
2 to 3 hrs is good to remove rust...
i left a pair of white gt frame standers with some rust on a bucket of vinager.
i left it soaked in vinager for a week, by the end of that week when i pulled out the frame standers.
the paint just fell off the frame standers. just bare metal was left....

Re: {{Removing Rust}}
What are you using to remove the rust? I use Naval Jelly Rust Disolver that can be found at Home Depot. I coat the parts pretty liberally and let sit for about 30 minutes and then use an old toothbrush to work the rust off and then rinse off with water. Use goves cause that stuff burns when it contacts skin!
Light rust disolves pretty quickly and heavier rust requires a few applications. This has done wonders for some of the parts I've needed it for. Good luck, ![]()

Re: {{Removing Rust}}
If you do a search in the restoration section there should be a thread on OA baths. I hear it works awesome and won't hurt your decals or chrome at all.

I've kept it away from decals just to be safe, I'm sure any lettering would come right off. Probably safe to just use on the metal. ![]()

Re: {{Removing Rust}}
Just at ACE or whatever... it comes in a crystal form, and I have never been specific in measuring, but I put enough in to cloud up the water, and let the frame or whatever soak for about 12 hours or so... sometimes you gotta use a brush. The rust turns green, I am assuming just oxydation.
It works great, some get concerned with the word "Acid", but I have done some research, and it isn't nearly as bad as it sounds. Has a low PH, and is found naturally in rhubarb, and other veggies. Of course, don't eat, smoke, or snort it... I would guess that would be bad.
But from what I gather, it is not any more harmful than using bleach.
Also, used for bleaching wood, for cleaning, or prepping a deck for staining... so the store might call it wood bleach.
Ah yes... tons of useless knowledge, but I hope it helps!
Later!

Actually CAP (citric acid powder) is used to make the sour taste in sour candies.
