2005 KGB Psychonnecta

A mint, never used 2005 KGB Psychonnecta delivered directly by my old friend a.k.a. the 'K' of KGB, Martti Kuoppa! Thank You Bro.

One sunday afternoon i received a call from Martti (Kuoppa) saying he'd like to drop by at our place with this frame he has saved in his possession and wanted to hand it out free of charge to my humble 'museum'. He lives nearby so it took about fifteen minutes until he arrived with the frame, duct taped and wrapped inside two plastic bags to protect it from chilly october rain. Out of the wrapping comes a mint, never built, second generation 2005 KGB Psychonnecta in immaculate pink. Psychonnecta, the model which was KGB's first commercially sold frame with it's ground breaking top and down tube design. Well i was stoked and obviously very excited about this as you don't get free frames delivered to your home every day, by none other than a good friend AND one of the best flatland riders in the world, atleast i don't.
But the best thing about all this was to sit down catch up the latest with an old friend because we go way back with Martti, all the way to very early 90's when he was a teenager sporting full face Dyno helmet and riding a '92 GT PFT. He's a grown young man now, five years younger than i am but to me he will always remain as my kid bro who's fun and entertaining to hang with. Over the years i've watched in awe the progression of both his riding career and KGB. Feels strange how the time has gone by so fast.

The conclusion
Now that the Kuoppa Gomez Bikes the KGB has been officially, but sadly closed down (at oct. 11th 2009) the company and the Psychonnecta, their first model, will remain in the history books of more less epic modern flatland frames. But to me, personally, the sole gesture where Martti wanted to donate this mint Psychonnecta 'to be kept in safe place' meant a great deal to me, much much more than the actual frame itself. The frame will find its way to the best spot in the house and as much as i am tempted to build this up and curious to see how it rides, i won't. I will keep it mint for many years to come.
Kiitos Mara, senkin Rölli smile
