Re: 1979 Kent Trail Climber

This was my first "BMX" bike.  I think I went through about two dozen pins in the crank.  I had Cal Lite pads and Sears knock off Tuff Wheels with snake bellies in yellow.  Brings back a lot of memories!  cool

Ah man i use to put bolts in as pins when i ran out of money to get pins i finely got my step dad to weld the cranx on both sides .The only thing that broke on mine was the cranx and peddals. I trailed and jumped every curb and ramp i could on mine and thats all that broke.wink

Re: 1979 Kent Trail Climber

My youngest bro had one of these BITD, the EXACT same bike. They were department store bikes.

I remember we tried racing it, jumped a dirt ramp and the gooseneck loosened up, and the handlebars flew forward. They ride very stiff, NOT comfortable at all.

What a piece **. That's when he moved up to a Hutch Pro Raider in 1986. smile

Re: 1979 Kent Trail Climber

Just stumbling on this now!!  This was the first and only brand new complete bike I ever owned.  After this baby it was build as you ride.  I do remember the dreaded crank "skip" all too well.  ...always started at the most inopportune times.  Now I guess I have to look for one so I can complete my collection of every bike configuration I've ever owned.  It's a cry for help.

...looking for a standard sized ACS boa.
