1983 Hutch Pro Star
1983 Hutch Pro Star
Here is my Hutch Pro Star. Mostly Hutch except for the DK stem and the Pro Neck chain ring. I think it is a early Pro Star do to the decal design and to a lesser extent the serial number. Bike is unrestored and I would probably rate the condition about 8.5 or 9 out of 10. No dents or dings. The the stickers have seen better days, but I don't plan on doing anything to the bike right now. Finding a new downtube sticker would probably be difficult anyway. This way I can take it for a spin if I like.

Absolutely SICK!!!! I had a friend in jr high that had this same ride. He left it out one night and it never came home. Let's just say his parents never got him another one. These cost about 800 bucks back in the day. Probably 5K now. If you ever want to sell it, dirtybobafett@yahoo.com

Beautiful bike. I remember it being 800 bucks also. I raced one back in the the mid 80s.. In fact I was at grands at the ROC probably '84.. In the main I got lane 8 right up against the wall. There was a group of kids there that were drooling over the Pro Star, made me loose my concentration and I jump the gun on the start. Fell off the bike, but got back up and won the race. Had to be the Bike....
.. That thing was light. Hollow hubs and spindle on the pedals if I remember correctly.. I loved that bike.. About a year later, they reconfigured our home track and put a huge set of doubles right after the first turn. We all had to learn how to jump it. After a few tries I came up short and straddled the second double broke the frame. Rebuilt my Redline and a couple of weeks later broke the frame on it also.. Ended up getting a Champion in Candy Apple red after that. You couldn't break that frame if you tried.

Re: 1983 Hutch Pro Star
Dude...thats my bike! Super sweet!!! I had one just (and I mean just) like it back in 85. My moms friends son was a factory rider for Hutch and he built me one out of the spare f/f and parts he had. $250!!! Yea $250!!!! I went over to his house and his garage was packed full of fun Hutch stuff. I had it for a year and some scum bag stole it outside of the 7-11 while I was playing the arcades. I was stupid and just left the crohm and black beauty sitting out there. What a dumb a** I was. I ran out in time to see the guy racing away. Mine had flights and one of the arm bolts was missing. I kept chacing the guy wishing the arm would fall off (like it had on me) and he would bust and I could kick his a**. Didnt happen and all I have is a memory. Thats ok...I am going to build me one soon. Again..Nice ride...keep it how it is and enjoy it. That kind of bike was meant to be ridden!
Have Fun, Ride Hard!
It cant be a BMX if you aint riden it and there is no such thing as Bicycle Carpet Cross!

Excellent bike. I knew someone who had one as well. His parents were rich, and he didn't appreciate anything. He left the bike unattended and someone stole it. He was given another one to replace it.
