1985 JU Mini

Jeff Utterback side project, less than 300 made

Jeff Utterback had a side project called JU Racing after GJS closed in 1985.  He designed approximately 250 of these mini frame and forks for riders under 70 pounds.

They were very light but a tad weak on the upsweep down tube where they would crack.  The seat post clamp area had a hole for the GJS seat post clamp.  With the limited number available and awesome design I thought I would give the bike a vintage 1979 feel for Jeff's heyday of racing.

Hope you enjoy another historical ride.

Re: 1985 JU Mini

great build.. Super rare bike I'm sure...  Where did you find the stem pad, or was that reproduced? AWESOME to say the least...

I have the same stem on my 1977 DG.. not polished of course..

Re: 1985 JU Mini

Where did you find the stem pad, or was that reproduced?

The pad is a one off I had in a bag (NOS) for many years and like another DG I will post I opted for the DG / Powerlite stem.

As for rare there are some out there but was surprised that there wasn't a JU Racing Bike Manufacturer in the Museum so it was created and here's the first.  Hopefully more JU's will appear as I thought I would never build this and surprising it turned out how it did.

Thanks for the + feedback
