1984 Redline 500a

1984 Redline 500a

In-progress catalog build of my very first "real" BMX bike.

Not quite done, but building this to catalog specs using all either NOS or near-perfect parts. F/F/bars are too nice to rechrome or resticker, will stay as-is (thanks Teched88!) This is an early '84 serial number, so I'm going with an NOS set of KKT pedals that were on the '83 Redline 600a unless I can find some correct VP-468's that are super nice/NOS.
--
I will ride this bike with a couple parts swap-outs like the pedals.
--
The Owner's Manual is the actual Owner's Manual from my original '84 500a I bought new in November 1984.
--
Stem pic is of the correct WIN stem.
--
Also pictured is the older cousin to this bike, my '83 Redline 600a.
--
Still need for this to be correct (please let me know if you have any of these):
(UPDATE 9-10-09: I have all the parts now to make the bike 100% bone stock correct, just need to install and take new pics!)
- NOS or better than these Fuan F1 style grips. MUST be Fuan brand white/black with NBL stamped into the ends. These are okay, but would like better/NOS.

- These are new Cheng Shin tires, will be swapped out with the correct NOS Cheng Shins when I'm done riding this smile
--
Larger pics will be posted in thread below.
Thanks! This is a childhood dream come true (again!)

Re: 1984 Redline 500a

LOL, thanks... well, I think there are some other nice ones, but I'm not sure if there's any 100% bone-stock ones, which is what I'm going for, and as close to mint as I can reasonably get.

I sold my first one after I got my used '82 GT Pro at a police auction -- sold the RL to get a freestyle bike. It was still super clean when I sold it, but this one will be nicer, probably already is.

Thanks for the compliment smile

Re: 1984 Redline 500a

Thanks guys. Yeah, GT and Redline are by far my favorite companies, followed closely by Haro (but I still don't have a Haro).

Here's larger pics of the 500a in it's current state, the '83 600a and '84 500a together, and the last pic is of the correct large Dia-Compe "clutch-style" brake lever (this one is on my 600a).
