Cool, Mongoose actually did make a one off factory tandem.
It still exists and is currently being restored by one of the members.

Re: 1975 Mongoose (custom tandem)
This bike certainly is cool!
However, I'm not sure that it is even a Mongoose at all... Or made from parts of any real Mongoose bikes.
Basically, the welds are not RECO and that is the first telltale sign. No Mongoose bicycles ever produced in America were without the classic RECO Heliarc (or TIG) welds. The welds on this bike (including the headtube gussets) are not Heliarc for sure.
Another detail that is "off" is that the front gussets off the headtube are not quite the right size and the holes are a little too far back. The holes also do not have the exact same "step up/step down" design that Hoppy Brooks/Chuck Smith originally designed for the Mongoose/racers X frames.
The rear seat stay does have what appears to be the correct triangle lug but there have been quite a few Mongoose knock offs that have appeared recently with that same rear. The drop outs look slightly off from the OG Mongoose design as well.
Not trying to be a party pooper here or anything, but that is what I see. There would have to be some serial numbers on the BB's as well. If they are absent that would be another sign that this tandem was built from Mongoose knock offs or just designed after a Mongoose.
Still a very cool BMX tandem bike and very originall!![]()

No.. this is good info, I don't know what it is. when I posted it... it said; Mongoose looking tandem,,, some one changed it to; Mongoose (custom tandem)
Its still kinda cool, I would like some history on it..

Re: 1975 Mongoose (custom tandem)
Are there any serial numbers stamped on the bottom brackets? That might tell some more... Maybe there is a serial number somewhere else like on the drop outs?
It would be great to see a couple more close up pics of some sections, the rear triangle lug in particular if possible...
No doubt that it's a very cool and "pimped out" BMX tandem ride!
Probably one of a kind...

Somebody has a pink bike with pink powdercoated x-mags on it too -looked really good.
They are IRON right, I don't even think real steal, but heavier, more brittle stuff?
The little bike recycle shak near here has a set and I am wondering if I should buy them.

WOW sick takes me back to the 70's when they raced BMX tandems. would love to see them make a come back to the track!
show bikes are nice but bikes were meant to be rided!!! 20" for ever.
