1985 Hutch Wind Styler

Took an old frame and fork and mixed it up with some new and retro parts, just to be a rider.  I didn't want to sink big bucks into a survivor F/F, so I made it a daily runner.   This is a fun bike!

I bought this 95% condition, rare green 1985 Hutch Wind Styler F/F off Craigslist from a museum member, ironically.
It was one of the first Hutch freestyle frames, and was the import step down from the Trick Star.   But that had no effect on the frame quality, because the Wind Styler is an awesome ride.   It just has the feel, and actually less tubing than the Trick Star.
Since the decals were sun beaten but perfect, I left them there of course.   Since it has a few tiny scratches, but looks perfect from a few feet away, I decided against pouring a ton of money into this build.   Some may not have even built it, but I wanted it as a fun oldschool mojo bike, with cheap and easily attainable new parts....just like I'd do if I were 14 again and found a Hutch frame.
I had some nice wheels sitting around....SINZ from my black Intense.   I made a great choice with the Italian GEAX freestyle tires.   Absolutely great tires!....and the green logo matches!
edit - Now black Skyways.   Pics reflect both wheel sets.
Now for hardware, there was no way I was seeking out old Hutch parts for a Wind Styler I planned on riding, so I went to my buddy Paul at Atomic Cycles, Van Nuys Ca., who carries a lot of inexpensive but decent looking parts.    The Dia Compe knockoffs are probably made in China, but look fine, and I dialed them in with Tektro pads.   Also got the seatpost, clamp, stem, and all the other things on the cheap.   Look pretty good though.
So all in all, I spent about $450, but the payoff is the damm bike!   It rides great, wheelies easier than any other bike I have, and the wheelset has GOT to be better than what came on it in 85.   The Geax tires...I highly recommend them.

Sure I'll look like a bear at the circus, but I'll get a little fun out of it.

Re: 1985 Hutch Wind Styler

Updated some pics of my green Wind Styler.   I got some different ano rims for my Robinson, so I moved the black Skyways onto the most appropriate bike I own for a set of these.....my rare green Hutch Wind Styler.   I don't know what it is about this bike, but I just dig it.
