Scratch built Zeronine number plate
Hey all,
I was cruising Ebay a few days ago and saw a really really sweet looking Zeronine plate all decked out with decals and thought to myself "I bet I can make something like that..." so in about an hour (and $6 in materials) I came up with this.....
I started with a piece of 1/8" PVC sheeting from a local plastics store, cut out my shape with a band saw, cut a few holes in the top for the velcro straps, added 1/4" black vinyl pin striping from Pep Boys, attached some velcro to the back side with Chicago screws, threw on some old stickers and a hand-cut a vinyl "1" and that was that. VERY simple to do....

Since this was just something I did on a whim and not something I was specifically trying to duplicate in exacting detail, I wasn't too concerned with making it perfect. lining things up. I've never owned a Zeronine plate before so I had to eyeball the dimensions. I'll probably make another one later but make it much more accurate by adding the die cut ovals on the bottom and plastic straps at the top. Also add a slight curve to the plate.
Not sure if anyone else here has built a plate before but I thought I'd just show it off. ![]()

And if this is the wrong area for this, my apologies. I wasn't sure where a "show off" thread should go. ![]()

Great job on it. It turned out nice!
I've seen several home made plates, and most have looked good. I've thought about making one myself, when I get a little time. Unfortunatly, it's gonna have to take a backseat for now.
Good job!

your design is nice. i would be careful making copies of the original. Maybe you can change the name to be your own, or clearly mark them as a copy.

Ya, I'm not making these to sell. It's just a one-off for myself.

I've been making plates out of simular materials, too.I found some scrap plastic at work that looks to be the same semi translucent material as was used bitd.Wish I could post pics, but I've made Haro lightening and Series One plates along with custom fit to specific bars.No mistaking mine for the real deal, though.

I did this to one. Find one that have jack up ears and you won't have regrets. Mine hav a v shape slice out of the top and brokeng ear. Now it's a perfect 0-9 cruiser. I have plate covers for it if you do one...
