Re: Pedals - Shimano

Here is the little brother to the above DX's.  These were known as the Shimano SX...  This particular pair was purchased new by me around 1988 or 89.

Re: Pedals - Shimano

Want to know the date of your Shimano DX pedals?

There is a sequence of numbers on the side of the original boxes e.g. 1-4690021000.
http://www.lautenaudio.com/bloud/ShimanoDX-2.jpg
I could find nothing on it's meaning so I figure it is more or less a barcode of some type.

This is where your date code is located on your DX pedals. This stamp is GJ.

Note, I have not been able to find a similar stamp on the PD-MX15 pedals.

This is a Shimano date chart.

So, the pedals above were manufactured October, 1982

This is Shozaburo Shimano - He started Shimano back in 1921

Re: Pedals - Shimano

Feb 1983 set. These were in very, very rough shape. A file, a wire wheel and some new paint, not too bad.

My wife just came in to me and said, “I don’t know if I am coming or going.” I said to her, “Judging by the look on your face, you’re going – ‘cos when you’re coming, you look like a franking Down Syndrome kid trying to whistle!”

Re: Pedals - Shimano

Shimano PDMX-15 Pedal 1/2"        Blue set is dated 1983(according to chart above).     White set is dated 1986.
Even though same pedal model you can see the style difference.
