There were two versions of the xs drive shaft cranks, the original had standard cartridge bearings & 19mm spindle, the revised model had roller bearings & 20 or 22mm ? spindle. What type of bearings does yours have?

had a 2000 schwinn pro stock cruiser with these cranks. Pretty sure thy're 22mm cause the spindle is significantly bigger than one on my 19mm flight cranks.

Yes, that's the second edition Drive Shaft crank. They had a third version (22mm spindle) around 2001 when Schwinn went bankrupt, but i'm not sure if these ever made it to production.

Well heres what I know of these cranks... I have a few generations of these and spoke with a bike shop owner/Schwinn nut about mine.

The early gen XS 3 pc cranks had a 20mm spindle, this was because they wanted strength but nobody had really "standardized" things to 19mm at that time. So they ended up with a bastard size thats hard to get in a bike shop.

You can order them through industrial supply catalogs (Mc Master Carr, Grainger, MSC etc) but they are pricey depending on what you get. Also, there are different "fitments" for bearings: press fit, slip fit etc. So if you go that route, be careful because you could run into trouble. Go to bmxguru.com, he has a complete 20mm bottom bracket for $30 last I knew. This would be cheaper than separate bearings (from what I was going to order) and has everything you need.

The later gen Drive Shaft OS cranks (like on my Pro Mod) have tapered roller bearings, ground hollow spindle thats 22mm.

Haven't torn my Joey Garcia Trail apart yet, but right now....literally on my floor being worked on, I have an 06 Lavin 500 being stripped and cannot figure this 3 pc crank out. It WON'T come apart. So this is another XS crank version, but I've never seen this one.
