1966 Schwinn Stingray Jr.

Re: 1966 Schwinn Stingray Jr.
Seat, post, pedals, grips, tires, (hard to tell from the pic but possibly the rims) missing the chainguard and other bits.
Also this is a Stingray Jr frame not a regular Stingray. Yes it makes a difference
Would explain the smaller bars as well, regular Stingray would have taller bars.
I'm sure a Schwinn die hard will be on here soon enough, I just know from experience (2 rays, 1 Jr, 2 Fastbacks). And just to be sure on the year, I take it your serial number has a B as the 2nd letter in it.
ADDED:
Finally remembered to edit this bike today. Also Schwinn has NEVER used chromoly tubing on a Stingray.

i wouldn't do anything to it. THAT is what the first BMX bikes looked like. you had to make your bike into a BMXer. thumbs up!

Sick!I'm with JJ on this one.Since it's a long and expensive way from being stock, why not find some Schwinn box bars, put a 46t "mag" sprocket, and maybe Ashtabula forks. That would be a hot set up for the early 70s.Or,you could get a second set of street bars and weld your own cross brace, but I wouldn't ruin the originals.

I love it! This looks like any of the bikes I spent nights building in my parents basement. I'll bet half the guys on this sit had a bike just like this as a kid. Cool!

As has been mentioned, this bike is a Junior version which really was the basis for the 63, and 64 model years. it's a bit lower to the ground at the bottom bracket, and would've come with S-7 rims front and back. no one at the time would've converted this model, because we were using Schwinn Varsity (10 spd) cranks for the added length. We also used S-2 rims and re-laced them to the front, so we could run 2.125 tires front and back.
There's no real value to this bike, but who knows what will happen in the future.

THE SEATPOST PEDALS ARE NOT ORIGINAL....AND IN ORDER TO CHECK THE RIMS LOOK IN THE MIDDEL OF THE RIMS FOR ALOT OF LITTLE LINES AROUND THE WHOLE RIM AND THE SCHWINN STAMP OR TAKE A CLOSE UP PICTURE OF THEM SO I COULD VERIFY....WHAT KIND OF STYLE RU YOU GOING FOR WHEN YOU RESTORE????
