1998 GT Speed Series Team

98 gt speed series team

heres the story about how this bike came to be....
in late 1996 i ordered at my lbs a 97 gt speed series box series team with carbon spin wheels...
when i got it a couple weeks later i stripped it down and had the frame powdercoated red....
was a nice bike, then the gt recall fiasco happened so i took it back to the lbs. gt wouldnt credit me for another powdercoat on the new frame but they were kind enough to give me a free decalset for when i did powder it. so i get my 98 recall replacement frame powdercoated blue with red pearl which doesnt show good in the pics. threw all the 97 gt parts onto it and i was happy with it for a couple years. then i got sick of how much the spin wheels would flex, carving around a berm the tire would literally be rubbin the fork leg, so i got some sealed 36h gt mohawk hubs on gt rythm rims, these wheels are much more stiffer and to my liking. i ditched the chromo seatpost and found an alloy gt post. i recovered the speed series seat and threw on some oldschool grips, and some tioga red compe 3's complete the package. oh ya and theres also a chris king headset and gt heman pedals on there too...

Nice ride. I'm in the middle of building a standard 98 speed series. Hope it comes out half as nice as your team.
Good work.

Killer looking bike. Those tires really pull it all together.
