2002 Nirve Rail
2002 Nirve Rail
This bike is almost all stock. The Nirve components are all Voxom branded, a company that still makes beach cruiser bikes, but quickly abandoned BMX
The non-oem parts are: Answer Alumalite pro fork, black S&M racing handlebars, Redline Stem, Maxxis Holy Rollers tires, Wellgo square traps, and Cane Creek S-1 Aheadset.. I have the original fork, but it is heavy for a racing bike at almost 3 lbs. Oem bike components are: 7005 aluminum frame with integrated chain tensioners, Voxom Seat, post, and clamp, sealed hubs, three-six-d’s rims, Voxom 3 piece Chromoly race cranks, 44t sprocket, and Tektro V-brakes. The guy I bought it from said it was a 2002, but the serial number makes me think the frame was mfg’d in 2000. I’m going with 2001. This bike is very light. From what I understand Voxom was founded by ex GT people after the sale, and they sold bikes via internet and mail-order only. I think this will prove to be a rare bike some day.

Re: 2002 Nirve Rail
This bike is funny in that the frame is exceptionally lightweight -very well designed. The wheels, seat, post, BB, etc... all again are very high end parts. But then the stem they used weighed over a pound, and the forks weigh three pounds -way too heavy. The way I have it set up, with Answer fork and Redline stem, it is fast and light. It's gonna hang on a hook for the next ten years.

That's a nice looking frame. How much did that Fetish frame set you back?
btw, I got lots of bikes, so I can live without riding this one.
I'm not sure what a 'carpet queen' is. Closest phrase I've heard is when a gay female is called a 'carpet muncher'.
Since I'm a guy, and straight, i guess I can live with that...

Re: 2002 Nirve Rail
a carpet queen is a bike kept inside unridden. now what the hell's a carpet bagger??
That Fetish frame was i think $150 "factory direct". it's light as hell. i did notice a slight frame flex in the rear triangle (those older super-long Balance frames were killers with that frame flex) but nothing thats gonna throw the chain off & the angle of the head tube makes for a nice tight feel. cant wait to dig it out of storage & dirty it up myself!
you okay?- then can i laugh now?!

Nice Rail, I am a big fan of Nirve, they never realy caught on but they were great bikes. I used to work in a bike store that sold Nirve BMX bikes new and I had alot of them. I wish I hadnt sold all of mine. Yours Rail looks to be in great shape.
