Re: Rims - Araya

Here's my Chrome Araya 7x rims...

More Info...

-As in the ad that jjvh66 posted, Araya didn't offer 7x in Chrome in 1981... however, HUTCH was taking 7x rims and chroming them them... so it was possible to buy chrome 7x rims in 1981.
-Later Araya starting offering chrome 7x's like these below, and *I think* this is when they started putting the "ARAYA" decal there rims. I've heard this was around 1984 or 1985.
-I've been told that there are some reproduction "ARAYA" decals on the market and that these repros are slightly smaller in size.... So, I decided to measure mine for reference on the correct size. The size of the deal in the second picture is 24mm x 14.25mm

This is the cutaway of the original Araya Super 7X rim

Above as we can see, during the production years, they were offered with two different stickers.

Spider decal was for the 48h version
Tiger-Lion decal was for the 36h & 32h version

Re: Rims - Araya

In response to Justin.

I got a set of Araya 7X from Hutch chromed in 1980. I still have the invoice.
The Hutch chrome looked great but quickly flaked unlike the factory chrome from Araya that came out later.

Re: Rims - Araya

Were all of the 1st geb 7b's painted or anodized? I just picked up an early set of blue ones and they looked chipped instead of scratched and that was the case they were painted and you can tell 100% that they are original.I've never had another set of arayas just the weinmann 7b style and they are anodized.
