1997 Schwinn Super Stock 3 24"

This '97 Cruiser started life chrome with fake Arayas. I went with a retro star theme to give the feel of an early 80's race bike - but with mid/new school technology (Xtro set up, threadless stem, ho

I bought a guy's entire collection and sold off most of it - except for this cruiser. It was pitiful when I got it - it was apparently left outside for YEARS and had huge sections of chrome flaked off with rust covering those areas. The red anno parts (brake, seatpost clamp, hubs, brake lever) were all faded to pink. I decided to build this bike up because I've always wanted a cruiser and knew that the time and money this would require to rebuild made it unsuitable to sell :-)

Dimensions Big Cheese star grips (cut short for the narrow bars)
ATI Ultra bar ends
NOS Tektro brake lever (the body started life black - stripped the paint and polished to a mirror finish)
Jagwire blue & red brake cables
NOS Blue anodized handlebars
FLITE star padset
Powerlite 1 1/8" threadless hour glass stem
FSA Conix preload bolt (blue anodized)
Blue anodized 1 1/8" threadless spacers
FSA "The PIG" chrome 1 1/8" threadless headset
Xtro chromoly fork (1" drop outs)
Front & Rear Xtro hubs (1" axles) laced with white Atom Labs Pimp Spokes and blue anodized aluminum nipples to Weinmann ZAC2000 double walled 1.5" rims
IRC Siren 24" X 1.75" dirt race tires
Odyssey Pro SE white/red kevlar seat (with red powdercoated rails)
DK chromoly seat post (26.6mm)
TNT blue anodized 2 piece seat clamp
Dia-Compe 987 blue anodized cantilever brake with Kool-Stop Thinline red brake pads and NOS Tektro red anodized triangle brake cable hanger
Blue anodized star chain tensioners
Red powdercoated KMC K710SL Superlight 1/2" X 1/8" chain
ACS chromoly Claws 16T freewheel

I love everything about it except for the bars...Put some mid-school chrome cruiser bars on it and that thing would be perfect...

heck yea !!! this looks great. you did a fantastic job !!

is this a race, ride, cruise or show bike ??


...but i would add a closeup pic of the rear wheel showing the hub/rear drop out combo.
i'd like to see that.
