1985 Hutch Trick Star
1985 Hutch Trick Star
This is my original gold plated Hutch Trick Star given to me by Richard Hutchins in 1986. The frame was built in December of 2005.
First, this bike was never stolen. The bike that got stolen was a futuristic black Hutch Trick Star with gold components and the wheels off of my gold bike were on that bike. That is where the whole rumor got started about my gold bike. Needless to say, I got another set of wheels built up for my gold bike and that was that. After I went to ride for Diamond Back I gave my gold bike away to a good friend of mine, Jeff Rugg. About 5 years ago I asked Jeff if he still had it, he said yes. I offered to buy it back and he just gave it to me. I spent about a year searching for a few special parts, cleaning, polishing, and re-plating parts. This bike is about 90% original. I had to get new tires, grips, brake cables, brake levers, and pedal cages. Everything else is as it was in 1986. Woody

Re: 1985 Hutch Trick Star
Very nice to see you here Woody. The bike of course speaks for its self. I feel that the two most iconic freestyle bikes out there are RL's yellow Redline on the cover of the "RAD" movie poster, and your gold TS. More importantly, it's good to have you here. As a kid growing up in Edmonton / Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, pro's like yourself seemed so far away, but thanks to sites like this, people like your self seem so approachable, and down to earth. Thanks again for everything you have done for the sport and the people who keep the sport alive.

Re: 1985 Hutch Trick Star
Hey guys, thank you for all the kind words and I'm glad you like it. Like most of you, I really enjoy checking out all the amazing bikes posted here on the museum, so I figured it was time to take some pics and post them up. I'm a big fan of bikes, be it BMX or FS, since both played a such a big part in my life. There were a few of my bikes that were 95% done, but I was hunting for specific parts to complete them and pretty much most of them came together this past month. Anyhow, I sincerely appreciate all of the really cool things said in these forums about me and my time spent riding. It will be something special for my kids to read about some day. Thanks again, Woody

Ah, there she is...THE classic! If any bike can be described as the holy grail, this gold plated stunner is it! I still prefer the futuristic black and gold though. ![]()
