1988 Diamondback Strike Zone
1988 Diamondback Strike Zone
1988 Woody Itson Strike Zone
This is my personal bike that I competed on back in the 80's. I recently upgraded it and made some changes to it. I removed the old 1 inch head tube and replaced it with a 1 1/8 headtube. Had the bike re-chromed and used some new school parts along with my old school parts. Bike rides really solid and it was a fun project to do. I still ride a little flatland to this day. Woody.

Re: 1988 Diamondback Strike Zone
Nice project indeed. I started reading about this bike and the work you did on it on the other forum, but fell asleep (it was a long thread and it was really late). I can't remember the reasoning behind the upgrades (hard to retain info when you're dead tired). Care to elaborate Woody? Love the last shot!

I think your referring to Mike D? If so, yes we talk quite often and are still good friends. Mike and I both have busy lives but it's always a good time to hang out and laugh about old times. Woody.

Very cool mod. I thought about doing the same thing to an 87 GT Tour about 3 years ago. maximumswervage is a big time Diamond Back fan.

Hey Woody, Good to see you on the museum. I met you, Dave voelker, and Gabe Weed at a Giant show you guys did up here in Washington state. I was wondering who did the work on the headtube on your DB?

Actually my neighbor did the head tube job for me. He installs stainless steel kitchens for a living. It came out pretty good for a quicky job in my shed with no jig..

Looks good. I love modifying bikes. Pretty cool to see some of the old school freestylers popping up on the museum. ![]()
Time to check out the rest of your bikes. ![]()

Re: 1988 Diamondback Strike Zone
WOW>... Awesome work and Great to see ya on here Woody... From a kid growing up in Oklahoma it was all up to reading in mag's about what was going on in the real world of BMX back in the early / mid 80s. Great seeing some of the names that are on the forums nowadays. Thank you soo much for what you and soo many other pro's did for the sport and the memories that we now have at 40+.. lol
4 1/2 mile wheelie was my only claim to fame in the late 80s... no fame came out of it either.. just memories.

Can anyone tell by looking at the pictures, what components Woody Itson is using on his personal Strike Zone Diamond Back? I love the combination of old and new school components.
