Re: 1987 Sharp Freestyle
its ok overall didn't get a chance to ride it it was in the backyard and most of the og parts got snatched up
i'm going to repaint it opposite of factory (red where the chome is now and chrome where the red is now ) because the chrome is too far gone
but should look good none the less

Re: 1987 Sharp Freestyle
I had that bike as a kid. It was sold in Toys R Us for $130. It was a top of the line for the department store bikes. The really only one you could get with 48's spoke wheels. It had a no name rotor too.
I recently had a friend find this bike and he sold it to me for $75, I think...can't remember.
Mine is in good shape. I am going to restore it too. I always had the down tube pictured in my "head"....since I remember it. I always wanted to have it made, since mine is missing. I was going to describe the sticker as being like the GT Pro Freestyle Tour sticker from 1987.
I've already had the bars re-chromed, and the sprocket powder solid white, as it was. I got brand new grips that are original too.
Here are some photos. I got it without the red mags - which are not original anyway.

Re: 1987 Sharp Freestyle
Oh, and by the way......the placement of the "red" is correct on mine. So, use mine as a model...

Re: 1987 Sharp Freestyle
It was only made one year. Department store bike models are not like pro-bikes. They don't normally make additional years. If they do, it is still the same model look. Your Gyro is not original to the bike. Your wheels are not original too. The bars are correct though.
The year I bought mine as a kid, was 1988/1989.

Re: 1987 Sharp Freestyle
Yes, the same decals.
I remember the rims actually being a chrome finish, unlike the other department store bikes at the time.
Do you want to sell the wheels?

Re: 1987 Sharp Freestyle
Hey that's the bike I found for you near Baltimore. I remember the guy wouldn't ship it. Who ended up picking it up for you?
Looking for:
NOS white freestyle tires, preferably something rare.
NOS white Elina Flyte Tech
Chrome GT framestanders
85-86 Redline rear framestanders
Turquoise brake pads
