1976 Western Flyer MX

The only one I've ever seen.

I picked this "Flyer" up at a garage sale for $5. I bought it for the heavy guage spokes I needed. This bike was in rough shape but I decided to restore it. Summer 2013 I rode it back to the same garage sale house I bought it. He was having another sale and recognized me and the bike right away when I rode up. He was happy to see the bike restored.

Re: 1976 Western Flyer MX

I hear ya. I had one of my students sandblast it and another one is going to powder coat it for me. It should look pretty good after that. The wheels.....that's another story.lol

Re: 1976 Western Flyer MX

pretty sure thats what was called a SAND BLASTER...the local western auto sold a bunch in my home town around 75? 76? it had heavy rims and thick mud grips ..like the ones on the back of this one..springer front,,with a small square black seat and a short sissy bar with springs on it...a number plate in the center and on the front of the bars,,black frame,,gray plates,,,gran turismo grips,,,they were heavy and well built..it should be black,,never seen any other color? would like to see an original one? in god shape..i can still hear that springer bottom out off a jump..bank! bank!
