2008 GT Power Series 24"

GT hit a homerun with this bike.  I'm probably keeping it stock besides the blue marble Oddysey Adam Banton grips.

I really wanted this 08, mostly because it's in the classic GT colors, so I located one of the last ones in the L.A. area at Burbank Bike Shop.   I literally took it from the store, lowered the seat, and went straight to Simi Valley's Sycamore track, where I realized what a great purchase I'd made.   I don't usually buy new bikes, but I did this time, because I wanted THAT specific cruiser.
I'm probably leaving it stock, although I did change the grips out for marblized blue/black/white Odyssey Adam Banton grips, complete with little guitar designs on them.   I'm a guitar player, so they were a no-brainer.   I love the bike with these grips, because they're a bit thicker and the marble blue looks great against the blue accents in the logo and seat.

I must agree, that is a good looking bike..and similar to the 20" that took silver in the olympics..thanks for sharing!

Re: 2008 GT Power Series 24"

I paid $519.....a little bit discounted, but it's right on par pricewise with the Redline Proline and SE Floval Flyer.   I'll be honest....I like this one a lot more.   It's fast, agile, and also looks more racy than the other two mentioned.   I really love the 08's colors and logo scheme!

This one's a lifetime keeper, that's not going to be a showbike...it's going to be used twice a week to race on an ABA track.   This bike will become part of my life for a good while.   And I've got a good collection of bikes.....BMX, road, and mtn.   The designated players are this GT Power Series 24, 07 Trek 1500 road, and 08 Specialized Rockhopper.   3 mean machines getting used in regular rotation.

And yeah, Gary, it is a cool bonus that GT took the silver in the 08 Olympics and this happens to be from that special year.   That's another reason I jonesed HARD on this bike before getting it.  tongue

Re: 2008 GT Power Series 24"

Now that the honeymoon is over, I can tell you......there's a reason GT is so popular.   This is simply a killer bike......it's my number one BMX bike, which I use for practice/racing.

So, if you're looking at my bikes.....just know that the GT Power Series 24" and Intense Pro XL are the real work horses.   The PK and Robinson both ride nice and I'm keeping them as show bikes.    In a few years, the GT and Intense will be dirty and thrashed......I hate to say it, but that's what'll happen.  hmm

Re: 2008 GT Power Series 24"

I just updated it with my new plate from M&D Raceday.   I ordered it in blue/yellow, and put my high azz number on it.....how uncool of a number is 917 anyway?? lol   I guess the pro's ate up all the low numbers!  haha
