1985 Falcon Prostyler

Rare Falcon Prostyler Fully Restored

Bought this in 2008 for £150 it was a wreck! Had it all re-powdered, new decals made from the originals, new handlebars, new seat, new grips, new chain, new tyres, restored the Acorn Freestyle Mags via dying, bought a new repro padset. Ended up costing me the best part of £500 in the end! I believe this bike to be very rare, no-one seems no know anything about it and i cant find any documentation on it, it has built in stunt pegs witch is rare and a 2 piece split frame design (top bar). If anyone has any info it would be GREATLY appreciated! I am currently in the process of making it Euro (all white) so white Skyway Tuffs, white grips and white pedals.

Re: 1985 Falcon Prostyler

WOW - this was my my bike as a kid, heres a little history. It was bought for me one christmas from my mums 'Empire Stores Catalogue' - it was cheaper (£129.99) than the gold Mag Burner on the 'better bike' pages.

I prefered this bike because of the braised on pegs at the forks and the platforms on the back, also the stand plate behind the seat post. I later (as was the done thing at the track) removed the pads, from the C-Dubs and the frame, always kept the 'knacker pad' around the stem, and covered every part that could be stood on in 'grip tape'

The original bike had OGK styles wheels - copies!

This bike maybe wasn't the coolest bike around at the time, but mine sure did take some knocks, - it sure was stronger than my wrist and my ankle!!!

I later replicated the colour scheme when I had my skyway quadrangle.

Re: 1985 Falcon Prostyler

magicmossy: - Awesome thanks for the bit of history! I have even email Falcon about history of this bike and they have no records going that far back!

It is certainly well built! I love how unique it is with the built in pegs and all! I think the bike in terrible condition cost more than it did new! I have spent around £800 so far on it roll

Re: 1985 Falcon Prostyler

I almost feel guilty posting this.

I had about five of those bikes. That is the generation one that was a knock off of the Haro freestyler. The generation 2 was a knock off of the GT pro performer.

As Mossy has pointed out these bikes were clones. They came with cheap Star X mags in all sorts of lovely colours. I had a white and lumo green one, a white and orange one and a white and lavender one. Only difference on all was the colour of the wheels/grips/tires.

They used to retail for around £80 depending on where you saw them. Falcon pro were mostly for sale in catalogues and or Halfords way back when.

There wasn't really anything wrong with them as a rule, but if you were riding one where I lived you would take the stickers off and try and pass it off as something more expensive.

Those fork pegs should have slip on plastic covers on. Sadly they were ill fitting and would come off on first use.

There you go. That's one of the original wheels it would have had.

And these are the pedals.

No probs dont feel guilty posting it all adds to the history and past of this bike.

And yeah i know they where cheap as chips! Nowadays they are so rare though, and just about everyone gives it brilliant compliments on how rare it is, and what a nice retro build it is.

Thanks for the info! big_smile

Hehe they must have revamped them then. TBH that was my only gripe with the bike. Other than that it was a good bike.

These bikes were uncommon but readily available in the late 80s and sold by many of the home shopping catalogues.
