Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

Is anyone repoducing these?  I am the original owner of a Huffy Pro Thunder 2 a yellow and blue bike.  My decals are in decent shape but I would like to find replacements.  Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

There's not any that I know of.  I've been looking every once in awhile.  I think member intrikat is looking for some as well.  It wouldn't be hard to get redone if the artwork was available.  There are several members here on the forum that can re-pop stickers very well.  Post a pic of your bike.  I had that exact same bike you have, a yellow/blue huffy pro thunder 2.  Here's a pic of me riding it back in the day...

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

Thanks, nice looking bike.  I went out and took a picture of mine, hanging in the garage but I can't figure out how to post it.  It is a little dusty but it is in good shape.  I see you live in Portland.  I live in Aloha / Beaverton.

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

For posting pics, just upload it to Photobucket.com (you must create an account), and then copy and paste the IMG code into the thread.
Yeah, I've been in PDX since 76.  Originally from New York.  I rode BMX until 84ish, and then started skateboarding.  I only owned two bikes growing up, the huffy and a murray.  Both department store bikes, but I loved them.
Hope to see your pro thunder up here soon!
David

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

Lets try this.  Here is a pic of my bike.  It is missing the reflectors but I think I have them.  I just ran across the wheel reflectors this past weekend.

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

Wow, wow, wow!  This is the first time I've seen an actual pic of the yellow/blue pro thunder that was exactly like the one I had!  I've seen a lot of yellow/blue with the smaller gusset, but not one with the bigger gusset like yours.  That one is IDENTICAL to the one I had BITD.  Please don't swap out the OG stickers for re-popped ones.  The ones on your bike look like they're in amazing condition!
I know you posted in another thread that this would go to your son when he is ready, but if you ever change your mind and want to sell, please let me know.  I would give it a very good home big_smile.  Plus since we live about 20 minutes from each other, you wouldn't even have to ship it wink .
Thanks for posting/sharing pics.  Beautiful bike!

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

Thanks for the comments.  I looked thru a bunch of pictures on this site today and did not see one either.  As you pointed out, your picture is the only one that is identical to mine.  The pro thunder stickers are in great shape for their age.  The Huffy one, on the lower tube is faded somewhat.  I was only looking for them to keep and save for when they are really needing replacement.  The only thing really missing are the reflectors.  I ran across the original ones for the wheels when I was at my Mom's house last weekend.  I told her not to get rid of them.  I know I kept the others but I do not know where they are at this time.  I see the front one every once in a while when I am over there but never seem to put it in a place where I can find it.  Finding this site makes me want to find them and put them back on my bike.  The front tire is the original.  The original rear tire maybe lasted me a year.  I liked to skid a lot big_smile    My dad replaced it with a skinny one with small knobbies.  That one was on the bike till about 3 years ago when I dug the bike out of my grandparents shed.  My daughter showed some interested in it so I replaced the tubes and the rear tire with one that matches the front.  She did not ride it much though and since has been in my garage all safe and sound.  I am not ready to sell the bike at this time.  My son is three and I have another one on the way so I think one of them will get the bike.  They better take care of it or I will take it back wink  Just out of curiosity, do you know what it is worth?  I want to say the cost of the bike from Jafco was either $79 or $89 when I got it.  The pro thunder 4 which was black with the yellow mags was more expensive by $10 if I remember correctly.  At the time, I did not care for the mag wheels.  I liked spokes better. I wish I still had a catalog.

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

That's awesome you held on to it all these years, even down to the reflectors.  Mine stayed all original until I really started getting into the BMX scene.  I swapped out as many parts as I could afford for better ones.  I think the only thing that stayed original when I was done with it was the frame and forks.  Unfortunately, mine was stolen out of my backyard sad .  It was recovered by the police, spraybombed and stripped of it's parts.  I was devastated.  I sold it as it was to my neighbor who has long since moved.
As far as value goes, for the pro thunders they are all across the board.  I bought the one in the museum for 70.00 shipped if I remember right, but it was hammered and needed a summer's worth of restoration.  I've seen them listed for over 200.00, but with no bites.  The real market is with those who actually had one and have a sentimental attachment to them (like me).  There are a few others on this forum, but that's about it as far as I can tell.  With that said, I would say yours was worth an amount somewhere in between.
That's cool that you can pass it down to your son when he's ready.  If you ever decide to get him something differnet or more up to date, please think of me, as I would be thrilled to make you a great offer and give it a new home.

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

Tigger / Big,

I joined this forum just to find a picture of what my bike looked like to show my son.

I had the same bike - Pro Thunder 2 with the larger gusset - the black seat - & even the same grips as you tigger.

I loved that bike - most people on this forum do not like the Pro Thunders or Huffy for that matter - but boy I had some good times.

All of my friends had Pro Thunders
Pro Thunder 1 - Burgundy
Pro Thunder 2 - Yellow / Blue older version (mine)
Pro Thunder 2 - Yellow / Blue newer version with a blue seat a smaller gusset and knobbie grips.
Pro Thunder 2 - Red / White
Pro Thunder 3 - Blue / Orange
Pro Thunder 4 - Black / Yellow with mags.

Schwinn SX500 - Gray - (the only Schwinn in the gang)

Tigger - If you get a chance please email me some close up pictures - I'd love to sow my son, as I am buying him a new Pro Thunder.

I'd love to find one of these as well -

Thanks for the memories

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

ProThunder, what sort of pics did you want to see?  Unfortunately they will have to be of it up on the hooks as my Mustang is under it and it would have to be moved for me to get the bike down.  There is just too much crap piled around it and on top of it at the moment that it would take me a while.  Next time I move the car I need to remember to take the bike down and give it a wash.  It is looking pretty dirty.

Bigpapes, yes I was fortunate enough to have been able to keep a lot of things from my childhood.  I grew up in a big house and was the only child so it was easy to store stuff away.  As long as we had the room and it did not get in the way, my grandparents were ok with me keeping stuff.

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

Tig,

No rush - next time you get her down - just thought you could snap a few pictures of what it looked like.

Keep that for your son - now a days a bike doesn't mean as much as it did 30 years ago. When we were kids your bike and your baseball glove were your favorite toys. Today theres the Wii - the motorized scooters - they may be fun but 30 years from now will they still be missed as much as your first real bike?

Re: Huffy Pro Thunder decals?

Someone get some tracing paper out and trace the ones on the bike. I'd like to find one  of these too. As it was my first bike. Mine was just like the red/white Pro 2 in the museum. Hard to believe the abuse that cheap bike took.
