Re: 1980 Team Mongoose
looks fantastic!
"You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In Vietnam his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill!"

Nice!
It might look better with a set of black vinyl pads than the red.
I went back and forth between blue and black on mine too, so I know it's a tough call..

thanks mate. mine's a 1978 and it was powdered straight over the nickle, but a shade darker than the standard blue. i really should have nickle forks with a decoster decal to make it a bit more proper.
thanks for the info on the seat, much appreciated.
your team is superb, ol' mate, and a great inspiration to try and get mine as close to catalogue correct as i can.

This bike is awesome. Since the Team was my second bike when I was a kid, I'm considering building one of these when I'm done with my current projects.
Looking for:

Re: 1980 Team Mongoose
Hola! I'm a Kiwi from New Zealand. My brother received a U.S.A. imported red Team Mongoose with black suede seat in 1980 and the frame and rimms are in mint condition. Can someone please tell me the original parts - crank, breaks, grips, tyres and seat for this bike as I want to restore it with him? Also, being from New Zealand would it be easy to buy these parts? Hope someone can help. Cheers!
