1996 Mosh Expert XL

Complete Custom build

I started with just a frame that had been sitting under a trailer for 3 years after 2004's Hurricane Charley. The wheels I've had for awhile and on a few bikes but they are Araya 7x cross laced to a set of 2nd gen Bullseye hubs. Peregrine stem and post with an early nineties Odyssey Cobra saddle. This is the bike I would've wanted in the 90s when I tried racing (bad knees). I've been working on it for two years and it is still a work in progress. I'm not sure but the frame may even be a prototype. Where the serial number should be there is just the stamp "1 GEXL" I've talked to another Mosh owner and his also has four numerals after the same stamp mine has. Oddly enough, there are two small "4130" decals on the lower chain stays that match the other stickers, so, WTF?

Hardest part to find was the Odyssey Cobra seat. This bike is definitely one of my faves.

Re: 1996 Mosh Expert XL

Found out it may not be what I thought. A friend was at the shop looking at it with me and he can see that it appears someone buffed out the four digit serial. Barely left a trace. I knew I needed new glasses. He can see the hint of a 001 but the fourth is completely gone. Maybe if I have my wife take a pic with her camara I can look at it better. Just can't figure out why they would just take those four and not all of the serial off.

Re: 1996 Mosh Expert XL

it's a Kastan.
In 97 Giant/Mosh had his company make a few frames so that way the Mosh brand would take off. Good luck finding any more information, I have been trying to simply nail down the year they were made for a couple of years now with no luck.
