1982 Schwinn Thrasher

Little brothers Christmas present 1982!

1982 Schwinn Thrasher. Christmas of 82 my brother and I both got new bikes. His is this Schwinn Thrasher. He had just turned 9. Mine was a Moto One by Diamond Back. Tragically we lost my brother in a gun accident Christmas 1992. These bikes have been sitting in parents garage since 1985 when I got my drivers license. This year, I decided I wanted to restore them back to Christmas 1982 specs. Did this bike on a very tight budget, so be kind! Original frame powered in ink black with G0982 on right side of frame and 2771195 on left side. Original bars, grips, brake calipers, wheels, gooseneck, seat post, clamp, and crank. Aftermarket seat, pedals, tires, spokes, brake handles. A local artist made new Schwinn decals for me. Now just need a Gold Chicago Quality decal for down tube. Had a blast restoring this bike in his memory. Will upgrade items with better gold re-anodized parts and correct Schwinn Scrambler tires as I find them. He was a huge ET fan but since he just got this new Schwinn, the ET Kuwahara was out of the question. So now I am looking for an ET Kuwahara to add to my bikes. Love this museum. On here about a dozen times a day! Later, Scott (Nebraska)

Great story, though very sad about losing your brother. The bike looks great. Whereabouts in Nebraksa? (I spent '77-80 in Lincoln)

Awesome bike.  Sorry for your loss.  Snydebike on ebay had one of these for sale, NOS, a while back.  Not sure if he still has it or not?

Re: 1982 Schwinn Thrasher

Thanks for the replies.

I am waiting for pics of another Moto One so I can have custom made decals for it.  Otherwise it is finished.

My original Diamond Back Rad Pads are showing their age but still looks nice on the bike!

Thanks,  Scott

Beautiful, can't tell it's a budget build at all! Great job, and a good looking bike too!
