2009 We The People Recon

Allen has been living here in Cologne for a couple of weeks now, but as much as he tries to find flat rails and manuals to be cool - he hasn't quite arrived yet. So, he hangs out with Nico in a sort of a parallel society, riding miniramps and doing rock walks. And the thought of going brakeless, well that thought has not even crossed his mind. And because of all this, the locals are fuming. "Who does this Chicago guy think he is? This is our city and whoever lives here has to integrate into our society!" Of course Allen wants to get along with everyone, but does that mean that he should completely abandon the self-identity that took him so many years to develop - just to fit in?
Some time later and with a heavy heart he decides to give in and make a symbolic commitment to his new hometown: the colorful purple paint job of his We The People Recon frame will have to give way to the local favorite : flat black. Not a professional paint job, mind you, but the typical make-shift spray can job so common here. The next step is a little more complex. While reassembling his bike he hesitates and leaves the brake on the table. With a certain feeling of nervousness, Allen forces himself to drop the brake into his spare parts box. There it will stay, "just in case"..... just in case he moves to another town.....
