1988 Skyway Street Beat
Last year of the Beat. 990 mounts but No Tear-Drop tubing...
Took me a while to find this. You don't see these too often, especially in the Aqua/Chrome.
Most of the parts are original, except the cranks/pedals/tires/pads/chain. Original finish & decals!
It had incorrect cranks/pedals when I got it from another member here. Luckily I had gotten the proper crankset from another 88 Beat a while before. I had the Taskforce cranks re-chromed and found NOS Victor VP-707 pedals as shown in the BMX Plus! bike test. The Skyway catalog shows it with VP-555 platform style pedals but I think I prefer the 707s...maybe.
The KMC chain on it was kinda worn so I put a new Izumi chain on it for easy running. ;) It originally came with Haro freestyle tires in 88 but those are hard to come by, so, I used the Panaracers since they look good. I may end up throwing some Haro tires on there eventually. I rebuilt the Tuff2s with NOS kits and I was able to find the mounting hardware for the axle extenders for fork holes. I think it is pretty cool since you normally see these with Spinner or knockoff threaded pegs on them.
