Evel Knievel Tribute / 2011 SKAVENGER Tunnel - BMXmuseum.com

Growing up in the 1970's & 80's... I was like most kids that were into BMX, & wanted to be Evel Knievel. 30 years later I decided it was time for me to honor & pay tribute to one of my childhood hero's with a proper Evel inspired build. It's not like I was breaking NEW ground in this department Huffy had done one so had AMF... & 20 years after Evel's heyday Hoffman Bikes did their own Evel Knievel Limited Edition BMX. As much as these were & are VERY COOL bikes in their own way, my plan was to research as much as I could & include some cool personal Evel details into my build. So after reading & watching as much as I could about EK, I started to lay things out. Here are a few of those details... Their are 13 stars on the top tube, Evel Jumped 13 red London Bus's in England's Wembley Stadium. The valve caps are dice from Caesar's Palace Casino, in Las Vegas, where Evel attempted to jump the "FOUNTAINS OF CAESAR'S". The "X-3" logo on the top tube is a reference to Evel's attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon, Evel's Skycycle was named the X-2... He did not make it, so if the X-2 couldn't make it,  maybe the "X-3" could. I also included a bunch of Evel's sponsors from throughout his career, Mack Trucks, Triumph Motorcycles, Bell Helmets, Chuckles Candy, & last but not least Harley Davidson. The decals are all custom gold leaf, the "Evel" on the top tube & the "Color Me Lucky" was inspired by his helmet designs, & the "EVEL KNIEVEL" font on the forks is the same typestyle that was on his Skycycle. On the handlebars I added a red rabbits foot, Evel always wore one on the zipper of those famous leather jumpsuit's for "LUCK". Their are a bunch more trivial things about the bike that link it to EK... if your curious just ask!
