1987 Schwinn Yo Deluxe Scooter
14 in the front 12 in the back!
The Schwinn "Yo Deluxe" was Schwinn's flagship scooter model, It was the only scoot to have a spoked 14" wheel in the front and a 12" mag in the back. The color on this is a black chrome, as far as I can tell it's a candy black over chrome, it looks pretty cool in sun light but shows scratches easily.
This is by far the stoutest scoot I have ever stepped foot on, and with a 4130 frame the weight actually isn't an issue. Like Mongoose and their miniscoot series, Schwinn used many of the same parts on the "Yo" scooter series that they were using on their freestyle bikes of the time. The components are all top notch on the "Yo" series including "yo" freestyle front breaks (look like re-branded odyssey), dia-comp center-pull in the rear and an ACS stem and rotor system with cable stops built onto the frame. The "Yo Deluxe" also featured threaded spinner peg holes on the forks.
Parts not original on this build include a new rear wheel, tires, skyway tuff pads, NOS Skyway axle pegs in the rear, NOS Spinner style pegs on the forks, AME tri grips and new brake lines.
Im on the search for 12" Cheng Shin white gum walls for the back, but these are seemingly impossible to find.
