1981 Schwinn King Sting 10 Speed
1981 Schwinn King Sting 10 Speed. Schwinn's attempt at integrating BMX into the newly popular mountain biking sport.
Almost all King Sting parts on the bike, except the Wald forks. Bike sold to oldschoolbmxbikebuilder in September of 2010, where the next day, he won best in show with it at the Smoopys' Classic bike show in Murfreesboro, TN.
Here is the description from my original for sale ad:
Frame- Original black paint, with minor rider wear/scratches
Fork- Schwinn forks with new tube stickers
Cranks- TEAM SCHWINN gold cranks with Suntour caps
Pedals- MKS 9/16" gold pedals.
Handlebars- Original King Sting bars.
Grips- Yellow MXF Hunt Wilde grips. These were NOS before I put them on.
Wheels- Awesome Gold Ukais'- 26 x 2.125.
Hubs- ACS - Rear was NOS before I laced to the rim
Derailleur-Factory Suntour
Tires- NEW gumwalls- 26 x 2.125- look like Schwinn studded tread.
Stem- Mint Gold TEAM Schwinn Suntour style
Brakes- Dia Compe gold calipers with Dia Compe factory bent levers (BMX style).
Seatpost- 26.8 Aluminum seatpost
Seatpost Clamp- Factory King Sting clamp- identical to the OE clamps on the SX2000, SX1000, and Sting Competition.
