1999 Schwinn Pro Stock SE
Got this frame new off of ebay for $75.00 shipped on a best offer, to use for the basis of my modern JAG BMX Tribute to my 1981 Jag I had as a kid.
Ok, I was nostalgic and missed my old original 1981 Jag bmx after getting back into bmx in 2008. At sixteen years old I out grew the bike and sold it to buy some wheels for my truck back then. After a few months I wanted to buy it back, only to find out that it was stolen from the kid I sold it to, so ended the search for my bike.
I wanted a Jag with modern geometry, materials, one and one eighth threadless headset and V-brakes, since one didn't exist I came up with my own. Coincidentally I got the idea around the time of Anthony Sewel's passing RIP. and finished the project by July 2009.
The first thing I did to the new pro stock frame was grind off the embossed schwinn emblem at the head and top tube gusset, then I drilled out the embossed schwinn emblems at both rear drop outs, and remove the schwinn badge on the head tube.
I then repainted the frame a ford dark blue metalic, restickered it with Jag bmx stickers I got off of ebay and clear coated the frame with an automotive clear coat.
My original jag had a black frame and gold anodized parts with the exception of the cranks and pedals were ano red. I deviated a little from the original in that I wanted and painted the new frame the dark blue ( and in the shade could be mistaken for black) ( also if jag had originally offered a blue frame I would of chosen that color instead of black)
On the original jag I had the gold plated team jag forks but I stripped the threads and replaced them with tange TRX chrome forks, but otherwise built the new bike with the gold ano parts theme to recreate the bike as close as possible.
At the 2010 Silver dollar ntl's in Reno NV, Matt Polkamp approved of the bike, and former Jag team riders Phillip Maxwell, and" Pistol" Pete Loncarevich stopped me to check out and talk about the bike.
