RRS, Redlands Riverside Schwinn, Suntour Seat Clamp, Shimano 600 Crank, Stronglight Headset, Bullseye Hubs, Araya "circular" rims, Tuf Neck 2000 (oval shaped), Race Inc handlebars, Titron Pedals, Suntour Hub 

I got this bike from my sister's friend's brother (interesting note my sisters friend and the brother have since passed away).  He bought the bike new and I'm sure paid a pretty penny for it.  I got the bike in about 1985 and have had it since.  I'm guessing that it is about an 81 model.  I raced the bike occasionally as an amateur.  I picked up the bike from my mothers house and I'm going to work on restoring it.

My one real bmx claim to fame... I saw an ad in the paper one day for the ABA cajun nationals.  I talked my mom into taking me, so we loaded the RRS in the trunk of the caddy.  There were bike trailers everywhere with dads working final tweeks on bikes, and we rolled in with nothing to lose.  We had to pay someone to replace the handlebar grips before they would let me race.  With that done, I rolled up to the start line and proceeded to win 1st place while my mom painted her nails in the stands.  I got a big trophy and that was my one real claim to bmx fame ...1987 cajun nationals.

About the bike, I've always thought the bike was special, but now with some research I'm understanding why. 

It's got a gold shimano 600 crank.  The non drive side was replaced at some point with a sugino maxy, so I'll be looking for a gold shimano 600 crank... if you know of one pass me the word.  It's got araya rims, tuffneck 2000, suntour seat clamp, bullseye hubs, stronglight headset (need a new one of those too).  It used to have a red uni seat which I remember, but when I started growing and thinking freestyle was cooler looking I replaced with this silly green seat.  I never remember having the cantilever brakes on it, as I always remember having a set of gold diacomp mx brakes.  I've got to find a set of canti brakes and figure out how to make repairs so that I can attach them.

Any how, that's the story.  I have lots of good memories with this bike.  Also, I always thought the bike was particularly light compared to other bikes.
