1986 Redline RL-20II

All Chrome RL-20II Rider

This build began as a project to replicate the bike I owned BITD (an original all turquoise RL-20II) which I truly loved. That bike fit my stature to a T! It was probably a result of seeing the photo of RL in Paris on this bike that I had to have one. I loved Redlines and this one with the 5" head tube, ideal geometry, wrap around double top tubes and smooth looking built in frame standers at the chain stays, was perfection to me! This build utilized a combination of used, new and NOS parts.

As much as I rode my RL22 BITD, I really wanted one that I could ride today. I got this one (originally radberry) RL which was stripped to Chrome prior to my acquisition with the plans of powdering it. I got it from Paul (Bronxstyer), who got it from Brian (SmokinEndo). Soon after, the white one became available and I thought of selling this one. Then the thought of having a rider in which I didn't have to worry about the finish or parts began appealing to me! So I began accumulating all chrome parts for this one and the last touch I added was the chrome survivor bars.

I'm amazed at how well this thing stops on a dime and everyone that rides it compliments me on the brakes. The chrome rims help as well as the linear brake cables, but I'm still using the stock white DC pads! All in all, she turned out as great as I hoped and there's no fear of scratching or dropping it. I hope you enjoy this bling rider build!
