1998 Powerlite P19

Seven-year-old son's bike

This thing was a little rough but complete and all original when we bought it locally for 25 bucks.

The frame got an oxylic-acid bath after disassembly. The original black Powercurve bars had rust at the clamp area, so we replaced them with these polished minis. We cleaned and regreased all the bearings, threw on a new chain and some other little goodies, and ended up with a bike that tips the scales at just 24.5 lbs (with 20x1.75" wheels and tires). Here's the skinny:

'98 Powerlite P-19 frame -- chrome-plated, Hi-tensile steel -- 19.5" top tube
'98 Powerlite P-19 fork -- lightwieght, 1-1/8" threadless chromoly
'98 Powerlite P-19 stem -- original black 1-1/8" unit
Powerlite alloy Powercurve "mini" bars -- polished
Tektro brake lever assembly -- original red mount, polished lever
Original Powerlite brake cable
Original Tektro rear V-brake -- polished
'98 Powerlite alloy, micro-adjust seat post -- polished
'98 Powerlite seat post clamp -- black
'98 Powerlite seat -- pretty good shape, a little rough in the rear
FMF alloy 3-pc crank (160mm) w/Dan's Comp sealed American BB
Sugino 41t chain ring -- polished (new chromoly chain ring bolts)
New chain from Wal-Mart
Wellgo black plastic (9/16") pedals
Gold alloy axle nuts from Dan's
'98 Powerlite wheelset (20x1.75, 36h, 3/8" axles, 16t freewheel)
Used Duro Jumper "Block Head" front tire -- 20x1.95, 55psi
New Odyssey Aitken rear tire (not show) -- 20x1.90, 100psi

Kid loves this bike!
