"FrankenMurray" Modern build on an old school frame! BREAKLESS!!
Why would I do this? Because I could! See, the Murray frames have a headtube with a 34mm inside dimension. The same dimension as an 1 1/8" threadless forked frame and standard cups. This is the same frame as my other posting. The parts are all leftover and reused items from the garage. The gearing needs a 9T - 3/8" hub, displayed with a 25-15T setup. Just thought it would be fun to build a newer Trail/Park bike out of an old school frame. I did use some other old school parts like the slammed quilted rail seat and Odyssey clamp, the 1-piece cranks and BB, and the Araya hoops. This "FrankenMurray" build includes:
1981 Team Murray "Track Certified" steel frame (flat white paint)
Odyssey CROMO 1 1/8" threadless fork with Hex top bolt (raw)
Aheadset SE-1 1 1/8" threadless (black)
Haro Fusion 1 1/8" threadless stem (black ano)
S&M Perfect 10 CROMO bars (painted Neon green)
Shadow Conspiracy flangeless grips (cyan blue)
DK bar ends
Troxel chrome rail quilted seat (torn)
13/16" chrome steel seatpost
Odyssey 1" drilled alloy seatpost clamp (80s blue)
Eastern 25T steel sprocket (from a Thunderbird)
Ashtabula style 165mm chrome 1-piece crank
DK PC 1/2" pedals (cyan blue)
KMC 410 1/2" x 1/8" chain (Neon green)
Araya rims 36H front - 48H rear (powdered white)
Diamondback loose bearing hubs (black ano)
AC 15T freewheel
Black ano nipples
Odyssey Aiken Path tires 20x2.125 front - 20x1.90 rear (blue skinwall)
You can't ride it safely at the skatepark where it was photographed!!!
