1976 Murray MX1

ANOTHER 70'S RAT ROD BMX

Barn find.

Got it with 3 other bikes at $20 each.

These bikes were some of the first change over  production bikes from banana seat / muscle bikes to dirt / track "bmx style bikes".

I think they are great. These were the first style of bikes I had as a kid.

Not many of these things are left because we used to ride the hell out of them and they wore out and broke and got thrown away.

This is another 70's  bike that if I got ahold of b.i.t.d. I would have made it more "mx" by doing this to it.

It originally had a "loaf" seat that I removed and swapped for this yellow "old school" seat. The "loaf" seat was bare metal anyway.

I added these beat up yellow Tuff's ( still have the og wheelset stashed away).

I also put a better crank and sprocket set up on it.

Ready to rock!!

The bike rides good and is faster than you might think.

It reminds me of the good old days in 79 when I would ride one of  these around with a boom box cranking out AC/DC Highway to Hell and cusing trouble in Falls Church. Awsome stuff....great bike....

And it looks cool.
