1984 Mongoose Californian

A great classic from the mid 8o's

Ok, so if you know me you'll know I'm a real GT fan from 85-90, the main years I was freestyling for. But the first bike that I ever drooled over was an 84 Mongoose Californian. Back then, GT's weren't as popular as the goose, and as much as I wanted one, I never ended up getting it, until now... I picked this survivor up from an estate in Pennsylvania a few months back and was told it was ridden for 6 months and locked away for the next two decades along with a host of other bikes of that period. The chrome on this bike is unbelievable for a bike that's 25 years old. It still had the reflectors, chain guard and kickstand on it when it shipped. The down tube sticker had started to crack somewhat and the fork stickers had a couple of scratches, so I replaced them along with the grips, tires and pads. Apart from that though it was just a complete strip down, rebuild and a good polish to get this thing looking like it did the day it was first purchased. I fell in love again with this bike so much that I've got myself an old 88' Cal that I'm going to restore one day, but for now this thing looks like a diamond amongst all my GT's!
