2000 Haro TR 2.2 24
I was working in San Antonio Cyclery (FL) back in 1999 (now they mostly sell road bikes to yuppies). I got parts at cost, which most of my pay seemed to go to anyway. I was riding a Haro Shredder, but I wanted to go back to a lighter bike. I was over 6' tall, and I saw the new Haro brochure (2000). I loved the looks of the new bikes. When I found out this cruiser listed for a mere $210, I couldn't help myself. The Shredder went on consignment, and I had the first run of these new cruisers. I didn't know it at the time, but the drastic drop in price was due to Haro making their bikes in China (I believe 99 was the first year).
For the past 13 years, I have beat the hell out of this bike, but it refuses to die. The only remaining stock parts are the frame, seatclamp and brake lever. After 1000s of step-ups, 6-packs, and whatever else I've thrown at it, not to mention my 200lbs, this 27lb bike keeps going. Ol' Standby!
