1998 GT Speed Series Team

Great bike with some cool history, this appears to be built as a 1997 Speed Series Team but the frame replaced with a 1998 frame due to a recall from GT on 1997 frames but then decals applied for a Po

2nd owner of this fairly un-abused (couple of scrapes on the bottom of the rear triangle) Speed Series. It's been hanging in my garage for a couple years now. I was originally going to restore it but have since decided to change out the rear wheel to stock, replace the decals and get a GT pad set and use it as a rider. It's nice an solid, rides smooth and has some pretty great parts on it.

Thanks to a member here some new information about my bike has come to light:

I'm almost positive that your bike was originally sold in '97 as a stock 1997 GT Speed Series Team bike.  After GT's recall (http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml98/

which answers the question of why it has 97 accessories. now the question is do I keep the improper decals since they were most likely installed by the factory or the selling dealer on the wrong frame?
