1994 GT Pro 24
My chrome and purple mid-school cruiser!
I've had this cruiser sitting in my side yard for a few years- picked it up as part trade on a car I was selling. I always wanted a cruiser back in high school, and my son has started doing flatland tricks on his bike, so I decided to clean this one up and ride with him!
- Chrome GT Cruiser frame
- Answer ProForx suspension fork
- Chrome Haro bars
- Polished GT stem
- Chrome GT post
- Reproduction Dominator seat
- Sealed bearing 3-piece BB with chrome Torker 180mm cranks
- Eastern pedals
- GT hubs with 1.75 Araya chrome hoops
- ODI Longneck purple grips
- Odyssey Pitbull rear brake
- Purple chain
After cleaning up the frame and stripping the flat black paint from the fork, I decided to build it up with as much purple and chrome as possible. The anodizing on the forks was faded to a mottled pink, so I sprayed it with Duplicolor Metalcast purple paint. The rear chain adjusters, seat hardware, and 44 tooth sprocket got the purple treatment as well. The pedals, grips and chain round out the package nicely. The only part I left alone was the rear brake. My LBS (Elite Bicycles in Citrus Heights, CA) sold me an NOS Odyssey Pitbull brake, with the agreement I wouldn't modify it!
I had a blast bringing this cruiser back from the dead, and I'm looking forward to riding it at local bike runs and re-learning a few flatland tricks. This buildup used a lot of newer parts, but I'd like to find a mid-80s Haro Freestyler to build with vintage parts- it's what I grew up on. Thanks for looking!
