1996 Gary Fisher Pure Bender

"Fasic" #1

This bike started life as a 1996 Gary Fisher 'Pure Bender.' Was bought in March of 2017 as frame only as the basis for my first "Fasic" build. (For those not in-the-know, first-generation Basic Bykes Small Town Hicks and Big City Bastards are Gardner-made frames that for one reason or another were not accepted as Standard Shortys and Lengthys. Thus, Basics were 'fake' Standards, and this Gary Fisher is a 'fake' Basic. Ironically, this frame is likely better-made, certainly better-welded, than the Gardner SBC's.) I'm submitting it as-is for now, but down the road this bike will receive 4-piece bars, rider-condition gold PDMX-15 pedals and repops of Pulse pegs. Otherwise (and even with the 2-piece bars) I'm very happy with the build. Last picture is the bike I took most of my inspiration from -- Steve Roy's 1993 Basic Small Town Hick. (Steve went on to become one of the founders of another Canadian BMX institution, 1664.)
