1996 Dyno Sonic

ALUMINUM Dyno Sonic

My girlfriend bought me this Dyno Sonic as a three-year anniversary gift.

In fourth grade, one of my friends had one. I thought it was possibly one of the coolest Dynos ever since it was the only aluminum Dyno I've ever seen. I have been trying to find one since then with no luck.

Fast forward to about a month ago. My buddy was looking for an SE Racing So Cal Flyer. We decide to try this oddball shop we had never heard of since our local SE dealer is a prick. We get there and they don't have a So Cal Flyer, but they had a nice O.M. He has them hold that one for a few days til he can get some money together. As I'm browsing the shop, I see some older mid school bmx bikes on the wall. Low and behold, there is a Dyno Sonic! When we went back to pick up his bike, my girlfriend came along to check this place out.

She tells me she wants to get it for me for our three-year anniversary. We make plans to go there last Friday and she was going to buy it for me. I left work early and we headed down there. I had not been this excited about a bike since I can't remember. I go in, turn the corner and go to the back wall and the hook the bike was hanging on is empty! I immediately started to panic. Go figure, a bike's been hanging there twelve years, I decide to buy it, and it sells. I'm completely bummed. My girlfriend asks me if I see anything else there that I'd like, and I said not really. There were a couple cool bikes, but nothing that caught my eye. She keeps insisting she will come back down tomorrow and buy a rootbeer-purplish GT Fueler for me, and I said no, I only wanted the Dyno. Then she tells me she has a trick up her sleeve. I'm slightly confused, say "You already got it didn't you?" She starts grinning and pulls the owner's manual/paperwork stuff out of her purse and says it's in her garage.

I guess over the past decade, the shop owner borrowed some parts off it, so it has a newer Dyno stem, Schwinn grips, and a different chainwheel and pedals on it. I already have the correct stem on the way, still looking for grips, pedals and a chainwheel.
