1979 Cook Bros Racing 26

Yet another 26 cook....

Everything on this bike was gotten via a trade or was found in a box of bike junk or was on another bike. Slowly the pieces coalesced. The frame was trade for a redline squareback I had. I had the cranks on my 52 Schwinn hornet that I am using as a mountain bike, at the urging of my friends I transferred them to this bike. The stem was found at a local bike co-op, the forks from the same co-op on a Schwinn cruiser that was chromed. The hoops are rough but I was able to lace them up into usable and ridable wheels. I have a q/r hub in the front because I like quick releases. The bars are from?? My garage. I may swap them out for something else later, not enough backsweep for my liking. The chainring is a tuff neck that I found in my junk pile in my back yard where 100's of bikes go to die each year. Pedals are newer diamondback, they feel nice, kkt lightning pedals hurt my feet. Other ano bits from porkchop..It's so light and quick, rides a little funny when you stand on it, the bar swap may fix that, I feel like I'm going to break it when I ride hard (which I'm prone to do) it seems dainty? I still think I need to toy with the final fit and then watch out, I'll be sliding sideways down some fire road in no time!
