1987 Brackens
Company started by Tommy Brackens, nicknamed the "Human Dragster"
and a BMX legend.
Brackens BMX Frames came in several sizes, mini, 20" 20" pro,
and 24".
They had distinctive gussetts on the chain stays where they meet the bottom
bracket, to reduce Flex. I recently got an email from Kevin:
Gary, Yeah I recall that pic.It was in BMXAction. That pic
got me my Vision Street Wear Hot Shotz Jacket since I was sponsored by them at
the time. And yes I did ride with my seat that high but only while cuising
around the streets. I would lower it for the races. The hubs were MXR hubs. They
were hand machined by an Orange local racers father who was a machinest. There
weren't many sets made. The ones in the pic were some of the first ones
made.Sorry to say I no longer have them but I do have a set of their low flanged
hubs thet came out later. Also, that is a Brackens in the pic.Tommy never made
that color bike but got plenty of requests for it after this showed up in the
magazine.I had the frame, forks, handlebars, seat post and the inside of my Araya
7X rims powder coated with a transparent blue over the chrome. It was a very shrp
bike.Wish I still had it.
